Summertime might be a great time, Mary. I'd just avoid the months where the mosquitos - yes, they do have them - are big enough to drive their own bus. (That would be from the 2nd week of June through the last week in August.)
This humorous quote from the Alaska Wildlife website says it all:
"The mosquito is the subject of many Alaskan tales, but has not been adopted as a state symbol for anything. For example, mosquitos get so big in Alaska they must request clearance from the control tower before they are allowed to land."

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. Great meeting you today at the Greek Fest.

Glad I'm able to see you in your new spot as well, Michael. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Alaska has so much to offer. While the Northern Lights was our main attraction there, we took in many other excellent sites as well. My next post will be about Part II of our visit to Alaska.

Supposedly, this is not a rare happening in New York. Best viewing would be away from city lights. I do remember Mom talking about this, but I don't remember what the Northern Lights looked like at that time. In the week we were in Alaska, I think we saw the Northern Lights 3 different times - very cool.
