About Me – Judy Berman
Stories, and the art of telling them, fascinate me. I am a writer, a teacher and former reporter – both in newspapers and on radio. In this blog, I will share some of the stories I heard growing up, from our travels, our family, and experiences on the job and off.

I never saw this post until tonight, Dec. 10th. Thanks for writing. I’ve enjoyed your stories as well.
Love your header…speaks volumes. Smiling lips…merry eyes…shaded sunlight…informality preferred…God’s green earth…still waters…”taken.”
hugs for visiting…i’ll plan to do the same…hugmamma. 🙂
Thanks for the compliments. This is one of our favorite spots – Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, N.Y. – near where we used to live. It was the last day of our vacation there and it was lightly raining. I don’t mind a misty rain and the place is just so serene, green and lovely. Thanks for visiting and writing.
Love the picture!
Thank you for your kind words. I really like it because of the setting – even if it was taken during a misty rain. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting.
Interesting topics! 😀
Thank you for your interest and for visiting my blog.
Hello,
It is so great to find another aspiring writer. You have done great things with your posts here, so keep penning and keep inspiring! I am sure the door will open for you one day. 🙂
I have a joyful ride in your blog, and now I’d like to invite you to visit mine. Thank you and have a wonderful day, my friend! 🙂

Thanks for visiting my blog, Subhan. I did check yours out. Enjoyed the poetry, the rainy photo (love a misty rain in particular), and also your story.
have been unable comment missing lunch. spammed?
Your comment did go into the Spam file, I’m not sure why. My setting requires all comments to first be cleared by me before they post, but yours did not go into the Comments file. It went to Spam. I corrected it here. Hope there’s no future problem.
Comfy little blog you have over here … Don’t mind me as I put my feet up to stay awhile. 🙂
Relax. Look around. Sit a spell and chat. Glad to have you here.
Hi Judy, just a quick remark, the second picture of troops in the trench. They have mk 4 Lee enfield rifles, a sten gun and a colt pistol. Mk 4’s would be later part of the second world war.
I appreciate the comment. My knowledge of artillary is extremely limited.
This photo came from a history site which identified it as a World War I trenches photo. Here is the link: http://www.history.com/topics/christmas-truce-of-1914/photos#
Hi, You have some really interesting stuff to read here. I remember as a child, I was crazy about topics like UFOs, Atmas (Spirits in Hindi), aliens, clairvoyance, rebirth, etc to name a few. I have read many books from my dad’s office library. My inclination to these topics made me go through most of these posts in your blog as well as follow, and they make for a really interesting read! Happy writing 🙂
Thank you for your comments and for your interest. I also have been fascinated by stories of ESP, reincarnation, UFOs, and aliens since I was a teen. This is probably why I’ve loved shows such as X-Files, Strange But True (radio show), and others.
The Fair blog took me back to age 12 and it was comforting. I read it on the day Carmen Basilio died. He, too, was a part of my childhood. I grew up in Liverpool, overlooking Onondaga Lake. I bought ice pops at Tucci’s General Store and ate coneys at Heid’s. A great place to be from. Thank you for your words.
We might have been neighbors. We lived in Galeville, also made frequent shopping trips to Tucci’s, and ate hot dogs and ice cream at Heid’s. Thanks for writing. I’ve always been a big fan of the State Fair. The photo above was taken during a vacation to Liverpool.
I’m following your website and enjoying all of it. Thanks for following me. I’ll do my best to keep it fun and interesting. Thanks
I look forward to reading more of your “netpubs.” Thanks for the follow. In a non-stalkerish way, I’m following you as well. 😉
Your asked me to send you the link to A MUSICAL EARTHQUAKE WITH AFTERSHOCKS CHERISHED AROUND THE WORLD… here it is (you might have to copy & paste into your browser):
http://noulteriormotive.com/2012/06/02/a-musical-earthquake-with-aftershocks-cherished-around-the-world/
I’m not a computer guru, but I think this link will work. There are several videos in this netpub. I hope you enjoy the music. Stax is worth a visit if you ever get to Memphis, Tn. I also put this link in my reply for my netpub DO YOU WANNA DANCE ? I SAID, DO YOU WANNA DANCE ? One more thing, then I’ll be quiet… If you haven’t already thought of this, may I suggest you listen to the music as you read … Thank you
Beautiful blog with amazing stories and images.
Island Traveler … I also enjoy the photos and stories on your blog. The one about the 7 rules your son – and you – learned when he was in Kindergarten … well, some of my 7th graders still haven’t embraced these. It sounds like he had an excellent, caring teacher. I’m glad it all worked out so well.
Ii am so happy I found YOU!
Well, thank you. I was delighted to see your poems and photos on your blog as well. Thank you for following me.

I have chosen Judy because she brings sunbeams to my thinking. Clarity always follows after I read her lines of poetry or essays.

Jane … Thank you for the award and your thoughtful comments. I appreciate your presence.
Judy,
I am not that technological in my use of the computer…Wordpress…or Gravatar…However, I did read that if one does NOT manually link or post one’s wordpress blog it does NOT show up on Gravatar. Unless I am totally blind…and I do need a new prescription…you do NOT have a link to this site on your Gravatar. I searched and found a link to you site in another manner.
Just thought you might want to check this out. Mine is not set up properly either. Have a great Sunday!
Jane
Thank you, Jane. I will look into this.
I’m very happy to meet you and eager to delve into your stories and life moments.
Thank you. I found your stories very interesting and appreciate your visits.
It feels good to know we have such a generous and thoughtful blogging community. Have a blessed day my friend. Thanks.
Thank you for your kind comments, IT. You and your blog do make this blogging community a wonderful place to live in. Best wishes to you and your family.
A note to Martin Cassell about photos taken at Notre Dame Cathedral. (I could not find a link to your name. To avoid spamming, I have chosen to respond to your questions this way.) The photos I identified as ones I took were taken with a Nikon Coolpix using the zoom lens. I was close enough to some of the chimeras to take photos thru the fencing.
About the video that accompanies this post, I do not know how those photos were taken.
Hi Judy,
I am in Edmonton, Alberta at the moment. If I remember correctly, you are from Canada? However, I think you might be a bit more East. Saw the Canadian Rocky Mountains in August–beautiful! The people in Edmonton are so polite and welcoming!
Canada is beautiful, but I am not from there. I lived in Central New York – Syracuse – until I moved to Florida in 1999. Glad you had a great visit in Edmonton.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog Judy and liking several posts. It is much appreciated. You have a fabulous blog! I look forward to reading more of your work. I love your writing style! Blessings, Robyn
I loved your photos, Robyn. Sunsets and sunrises are my favorite times of day. Thank you for visiting and liking several of my posts as well. I’m glad you enjoy my writing. Blessings also to you.
A note to Stacey McDowell. (I could not find a link to your name. To avoid spamming, I have chosen to respond to your question this way.) You questioned “how the conventions of the situation comedy television show, “The Simpsons,” are superimposed on the content and form of the poem, “The Raven.” The Simpsons skewer many classic pieces of literature and film, just as “Mad Magazine” does. They included “The Raven” in one of their Tree House of Horrors segments that airs around Halloween. To have their audience relate to the content, they include the characters in the sit com. This is just my theory . The folks that write and produce the TV show or a blog that specializes in The Simpsons might have a better explanation.
Dear Judy,
I have nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.
Sincerely,
Lilly
Thank you, Lilly. I know I’ve been inspired by the many places you’ve written about visiting, and your photos of those places. I’m honored you nominated me for this award.
thank you my friend for sharing the article and happy greetings of friendship and hopefully, when we share it with sincerity. Greetings from Gede Prama 🙂
Thank you, Gede Prama, for the positive path you set … that we all should aim for.
I nominate you for the Liebster Award, Judy. It would only take you five hours to specifically follow the acceptance guidelines. OK, three hours. Your wily ways, three minutes. Congratulations.

Thank you, Mark. You are a dear and, as you noted, I will observe this honor in my own fashion. See you on the Awards Page.
You betcha, Berman!
Hi Judy, I thought I was replying to one of your posts, but it was on your blogroll. It was from Murphy’s Craw. An interesting post. ~ Dennis
Well, you stumbled upon an excellent writer. Mark Murphy also writes fiction and comedy. A very talented writer. I’ll pass along your comments to him. 😉 I’ve had the privilege of editing some of Mark’s fiction stories.
Hello Judy, I have just discovered you (through a comment you left on Virginia View’s blog) and wanted to comment on your Shawshank Redemption post which is now closed for comments. I just wanted to let you know that the Wall St. Journal wrote a large cover piece on the movie just this past Friday. Full of wonderful inside scoop. Including Steven Spielberg referring to it as a “chewing gum” movie: once you step on it, it sticks.
So glad you stopped by to comment on Shawshank Redemption. I’m going to have to search for that Wall Street Journal article. Steven Spielberg is correct. This is a movie that sticks with you. Some friends of mine say they watch it every year.
I found the link. For anyone interested, it’s a great read: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304536104579560021265554240
Hi Judy,
Shoot me an email if you’re interested in guest authoring. =)
holisticwayfarer@gmail.com
What would be involved? I saw what you did with the topic of outsider/insider and appreciate your asking me to take part in guest authoring. But I don’t know if I would have the time to do so. I will be on vacation, beginning July 19th, and won’t be back for about a week. Again, thank you.
I’m about to run out. Just shoot me an email if you’d like more info. I’m looking at Aug or even Sept. Out the door now, thanks.
I’d like more information about this. August or September definitely looks better than right now. Thanks for asking. Judy
The “likes” don’t seem to register, but I’ll leave a comment when appropriate.
Also, some of the posts have comments that are closed . . . don’t know if you are doing it on purpose, but in case you are not, I figure I’ll let you know.
Disperser … I close comments after a story has been posted for 3 weeks. I began doing this after a number of spammers would target the older stories figuring – wrongly – that this was a way they could sneak onto my blog. 😉 Thank you for your comments. I do appreciate them.
Picture # 1 of Hoover Dam is of my grandfather, Walter Wojciehowski.
What a thrill to stumble upon this site.
Thank you so much.
Sue Richard
Sue … Thank you for writing. I do hope that you’ve been to the Hoover Dam site. That’s where I took the photo of your grandfather. It’s amazing what those men built and the conditions that they built the dam in.
Hello Judy! You have very excellent blog! I enjoy it. Remarkably! I will be glad to see you in my blog. The best regards. – Vlad. 🙂
Thanks for following The Immortal Jukebox Judy. I hope you are finding lots to entertain you and maybe making some discoveries. If you haven’t visited for a while check it out again. Please feel free to add comments. You have a very good hearted blog here. Regards Thom.
Thom … I also enjoy your blog, especially the most recent one on Sam Cooke. Like you, I find the end-of-school year has left me little time for writing. I plan to write a few more posts this summer. Then I want to devote what time I have left for writing a book. The very best to you and thanks stopping by. 😉
Good luck with all your plans Judy. Regards thom.
Love the new look of your blog Judy! ❤
Diana xo
Thanks, Diana. I’ve been checking out the themes for about a week and love the “Melody” theme’s print and photo displays.
I’ve loved your theme, too. That cool outdoor scene speaks to me. 😉
Have not seen you post several months. Hope all is well.
Carl … I just retired in May and took a long break from my blog because I had trouble juggling work, writing and life. Thank you for checking in on me. I hope to write occasionally later this summer. 😉
